An increasing number of top designers are selling their accessories on home shopping channel QVC. One of the latest designers to join QVC is fashion and accessories designer Isaac Mizrahi. Mizrahi’s resume is extensive, from red carpet gowns on actresses such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Natalie Portman and Selma Blair, to several television shows, numerous appearances on talk shows, a low-priced line for Target and current designs for Liz Claiborne. It was recently announced that Mizrahi’s Liz Claiborne designs will be sold exclusively on QVC as opposed to in department stores.
Eclectic Mix of Merchandise
If his performance on QVC in December 2009 was any indication, Mizrahi will have no problem selling out the Liz Claiborne line. Mizrahi was featured on three separate nights in December, before the holidays, to sell clothes, accessories, home ware and even sweets (such as a Junior’s cheesecake with a plaid design on top and peanut butter chocolate chip cookies.)
Affordable Accessories
An appealing aspect of the accessories Mizrahi sold was the reasonable prices for handbags that rivaled more expensive designer bags. Most handbags ranged from the $150-$300 price point, though some clutches were under $100. Currently, these bags can be found on QVC’s website, some for slightly discounted prices. The reasonable price points ran through the entire collection, which made the available items ideal for holiday gifts (or a present for the buyer herself!)
His collection also featured a lot of jewelry, which can also still be found on QVC. Offerings include a graduated simulated pearl necklace ($35), beaded necklaces ($25-$35), crystal drop earrings ($24.75) and set of three simulated pearl drop earrings ($22).
Of course, shoes aren’t forgotten. A stylish but affordable option are the crinkle patent side zip platform boots for $70. Other options include clogs and a high heel.
Upcoming Appearance
According to the QVC website, Mizrahi’s next appearance is scheduled for Monday, January 25. Time to be announced. In addition to seeing what new items are available for purchase, Mizrahi is an entertaining personality to watch. He's talkative and personable onscreen; he seems at ease with the QVC hosts. When he talks about a piece of jewelry or shoe, his enthusiasm is infectious. For a home shopping channel, this is important, because the key is for viewers to keep watching and not change the channel.
